Casa means both home and house
Spanish uses one word, casa, for two ideas English keeps separate. Me voy a casa means I'm going home, the place you live and belong. Una casa pequeña en el pueblo means a small house in the village, the building itself. English reaches for home when the feeling matters and house when the structure matters. Spanish skips that choice: casa covers both, and context supplies the difference.
The four rooms: habitación, dormitorio, cocina, baño
Habitación is the general word for room, as in una habitación tranquila (a quiet room). Dormitorio narrows that to the bedroom specifically: mi dormitorio está arriba (my bedroom is upstairs). Cocina is the kitchen, the room where preparo la comida en la cocina (I prepare the food in the kitchen). Baño is the bathroom, and it travels beyond the house too: ¿Dónde está el baño? (where is the bathroom?) works in a restaurant or a gas station just as well.

What is inside the room: door, window, table, chair, bed
Five more words describe what a room holds rather than what kind it is. La puerta is the door (cierra la puerta, close the door), la ventana the window (abre la ventana, open the window). La mesa is the table you sit at (nos sentamos a la mesa, we sit at the table), la silla the chair (siéntate en esta silla, sit in this chair), and la cama the bed you make each morning (haz la cama, make the bed). All five nouns are feminine, and all five follow a Spanish house from room to room.
Outside the house: el jardín
One word steps outside the walls. El jardín is the garden, small or large: un jardín pequeño (a small garden). It is the only outdoor word in this twelve-word set; everything else on this page stays inside the four walls of the casa.
