Wired chargers (Lightning / USB-C) and Apple MagSafe trigger Vocabcord automatically. Some third-party wireless chargers and MagSafe-style powerbanks don’t fire iOS Shortcuts automations because they negotiate power as generic Qi devices, which iOS doesn’t always classify as a charger event. If yours is one of those, set up an alternate Shortcuts trigger using Battery Level — when your battery crosses any specific level (e.g. above 80%), the Vocabcord shortcut fires the same way. Wired charging continues to work everywhere.
No. Vocabcord runs only when iOS launches it via your Shortcuts automation — it plays one short audio clip (3–8 seconds) and exits. There’s no background process, no location tracking, no network listening. Energy cost per plug-in is comparable to opening Safari for one second.
Yes by default — Vocabcord uses iOS’s playback audio session, which respects the silent switch only if you opt in via Settings. If you prefer phrases to be muted alongside everything else, toggle Respect silent mode in Vocabcord’s settings and the audio session switches to ambient mode.
Yes. Tap the pack switcher in the top-right of the home screen to change the active pack at any time. Your spaced-repetition state is per-pack, so switching back later picks up exactly where you left off — phrases you’ve heard a lot drift toward the back, ones you’re about to forget surface more often.
